About the Department
The Department of Sanskrit was started from the very beginning of the college in August, 1964 with the aims of increasing the knowledge about the Sanskrit language and literature to make awareness of culture and heritage of India, to increase interest in comparative literature and Philology. The general course is started from 1964 (17.08.1964). Sanskrit Honours course is introduced from session 2005-2006 with intake capacity 30. Due to the demand of the ever increase students, the intake capacity of this honours subject is increased to 70. This department presently have two full time faculties with five SACT. Every year large number of Students is qualifying with very good marks from this department and goes for higher education. The department arranged tutorial classes on regular basis for the students. A good relationship between Teacher & Students has carried by the department. Departmental Students and faculties are also involved themselves to college activities like Sports, NSS, Cultural programme etc. Since inception the department shows its consistency result.
Activities & Events
  • Department organizes fresher welcome and farewel to the outgoing students every year for the new comers to this department.
  • Department celebrates Teachers Day, Sanskrit Day and other important events every year.
  • Parent-teacher meeting is organised on a regular basis throughout the academic session.
  • Department organises Education Tour for the development of the students.
  • Department holds an Alumni Associaton and organises Alumni Meet every year.
